These are some of the questions that we frequently get about transcripts. For details about the different types of transcripts and how to request them, see the following articles:

What do I do with my transcripts if I’m currently attending high school in Ontario?

If you are currently attending a high school in Ontario, notify your guidance counsellor that you are applying for college. Most high schools will automatically send your grades to OCAS. See the Current Ontario High School Students section of the Transcripts page to learn more about requesting your transcripts.

I’ve graduated. How do I get my Ontario high school transcripts?

If you are a graduate of an Ontario high school, AND your high school uses the electronic transcript management process (eTMS), you will be able to request a transcript as a step in your Ontario Colleges application. If your high school is not on the list of those that use the eTMS, you must contact your guidance office directly and request that they send your transcript to OCAS.

See the Former Ontario High School Students section of the Transcripts page to learn more about requesting your transcripts.

How do I order Ontario college or university transcripts?

You can request your college or university transcripts through the online application. You must request one transcript for each college that you want to apply to.

For more information, see the Ontario Public College or University Students and Graduates section of the Transcripts page.

I've graduated from high school, but am currently taking a course at a different high school. How do I request my transcripts?

Because you have indicated in your application that you are currently attending high school, you are not able to order a high school transcript.

  • On the Education card, select Update Education.

  • Under Education Status, update your response to the question “Are you currently enrolled in a high school course?” to No; then select Save Changes.

  • Return to your application and go to the Order Transcripts page.

  • Select Request to order your high school transcript; then select Save & Continue.

  • On the Payment page, the outstanding fees are updated to include any transcript fees. Pay the outstanding fees.

The transcript request will be sent to the high school.

  • Go back to the Education page, change your response to the question back to Yes, and select Save Changes.

I requested the wrong transcript. What do I do now?

You must make sure that you include the correct high school in your profile before requesting a transcript.

  • Log in to your application.

  • In the navigation pane on the left, select Profile.

  • On the Education card, select Update Education.

  • On the Education page, add the correct high school. For detailed instructions, see Adding Your Education.

What do I do with my Canadian high school transcripts from outside of Ontario?

What do I do with my Canadian college or university transcripts from outside of Ontario?

If your transcript is from a Canadian college or university outside of Ontario, you must have your institution send an official transcript to OCAS.

For more information, see the Out-of-Province Students and Graduates section of the Transcripts page.

Do I need to submit my interim college or university transcript?

You'll only need to send an interim transcript if you're attending an Ontario college or university and you've applied to a different college program through the online application. You can request both your interim and final transcripts on the Order Transcripts page of your application. In most cases, you must pay the transcript fee for both the interim and the final transcript request.

Note: The interim transcripts may not contain your midterm marks. Before requesting an interim transcript, contact the college or university directly to confirm if your midterm marks will be included.

What Ontario high schools can I order a transcript online from?

Most Ontario high schools send transcripts electronically. On the Transcript Request page of your application, you’ll see a message indicating whether or not you can request your transcript electronically. You can also check the list of participating schools to find out if your high school supports electronic transcript requests.

I graduated from college or university. Do I still need to provide my high school transcripts?

In most cases, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required. This means that, even if you graduated from a post-secondary institution, you may still be required to order and submit your high school transcripts.

I attended a private school, which is now closed. How do I get a copy of my transcript?

For closed private high schools:

For a copy of your secondary school transcript, contact your school or school board.

If you attended a private secondary school that is no longer operating, contact:

Ontario Ministry of Education

Field Services Branch

315 Front Street West, 12th floor

Toronto, ON, M7A 0B8

Email: student.records@ontario.ca

For closed private post-secondary institutions:

Because getting a transcript from a since closed private post-secondary institution can be a daunting prospect, the government of Ontario maintains a list of approved Private College transcript retrieval experts. They can help you obtain official copies of your transcripts, even from a now defunct private college.

Have you received my transcript yet?

To find out if we’ve received your transcript, log in to your Ontario Colleges application and check under Docs or Supporting Documents on your Dashboard for any transcripts that have been received. If you've made an online transcript request, check the status of your request under Application on your Dashboard. For each application, you'll see a Transcript Summary and be able to find out more details by clicking the Review Transcripts button.

For more information, see Monitoring Your Application.

What is an official transcript?

An official transcript is a record of your grades that has been issued by the school you attended. It will have the school stamp and / or seal on it.

Official transcripts should be sent to us directly from the school. For convenience, a transcript can be emailed to us by your school to service@ocas.ca.

Transcripts ordered online through your application are also considered to be official.

Note: Transcripts mailed to us by applicants will only be accepted if they arrive in the original, sealed (signed and / or stamped) envelope of the institution. We strongly recommend you have your transcript sent to us by your school and do not send it to us yourself.

What is the transcript processing fee for?

The transcript processing fee supports Ontario Colleges in the retrieval and delivery of your requested transcript from the institution to all the colleges that you apply to. Some high schools, boards, colleges and universities may also charge a fee for providing a transcript. The transcript processing fee covers the work that happens behind the scenes, so all the required documentation gets where it needs to go.

Why do I have to pay the transcript processing fee?

You must pay the transcript processing fee since you are ordering a transcript from an institution. The fee you pay covers the processing and delivery costs.

What happens if I do not pay the transcript processing fee?

The transcript processing fee must be paid before your transcripts can be ordered. If you do not pay the fee, your transcript request will not be processed.

Is the transcript processing fee refundable?

This transcript processing fee is non-refundable and must be paid before your transcript order can be fulfilled. The fee is applied once per order. Please ensure that you order all required transcripts when you make your program decisions and pay for your application. If you request additional transcripts in another order, you will be required to pay another transcript processing fee.

Will I be charged the transcript processing fee if I already paid the lifetime transcript fee?

Yes. The lifetime transcript fee you paid covers the cost of the institution providing the transcript, whereas the transcript processing fee covers the actual delivery to the other colleges that you applied to.

What is the difference between the transcript fee and the transcript processing fee?

The transcript request fee is a fee charged by the institution issuing the transcript for the retrieval of your transcript from their records.

The transcript processing fee is a fee charged by Ontario Colleges for the retrieval and delivery of the requested transcripts from the issuing institution to your college choices.
