Article summary

If you accept an offer and then change your mind, you have options, depending on the status of your offer. Here are some examples:

  • If the offer status is Paid, you could submit a request to defer the offer to another term, or you might be able to withdraw the acceptance and request a refund.

  • If the offer status is Pre-Registered, you could withdraw the acceptance and request a deferral or a refund.

Withdraw an Accepted Offer

After you accept an offer, you might decide to withdraw the acceptance. There are a couple of situations in which you might need to withdraw an accepted offer:

  • If your application for a Visa or Study Permit is declined, or you will not receive approval in time to start classes, you must notify the institution by withdrawing the acceptance.

  • You decide that you are no longer interested in taking that program.

To withdraw an acceptance of an offer:

  • On the Offer Details page, select Withdraw Acceptance.

On the Offer details page, the status is Pre-Registered and the Withdraw Acceptance button is outlined in red.

  • A confirmation message opens; read the information provided and select the Withdraw Reason from the list. For example, if your Visa application was declined, select Visa Rejected.

In the Withdraw Acceptance of Offer message, you must select the reason you are withdrawing.

When you withdraw an acceptance of an offer, you might have the option to request a deferral.

  • If you want to request a deferral, select Yes; then select Continue and complete the deferral request. (See Request a Deferral.)

In the Withdraw Acceptance of Offer message, Accepted Another Offer is the selected reason. For the question "Do you want to request a deferral to a future term?", you can select Yes or No.

  • If you do not want a deferral, select No. You might have the option to request a refund.

  • If you want to request a refund, select Yes; then select Continue and complete the refund request. (See Request a Refund.)

In this example of a Withdraw Acceptance of Offer message, Visa Delayed is the selected reason. There are details about what you must provide to support that reason. Information about requesting a refund is also displayed.

  • If you select No for both options, the Offer status changes to Withdrawn.

You might still have the option to request a deferral or refund later from the Offer page.
