# Applying to a Post-secondary Institution as an International Student

## The Application Process

We are excited that you decided to apply to a post-secondary institution in Ontario and want to help you get started with your application.

The application process differs, depending on which institution you want to apply to. Some institutions use the OCAS International Application Service (IAS), while others do not.

**IMPORTANT**: The information in this help documentation is specifically for applicants who must apply using the IAS Applicant portal.

The following institutions currently use the IAS:

- Collegé Boréal
- Cambrian College
- Canadore College
- Conestoga College
- Confederation College
- Fleming College
- La Cité
- Loyalist College
- Mohawk College
- Nipissing University
- Northern College
- Sault College
- St. Clair College
- St. Lawrence College

The following institutions have their own application process for international applicants:

- Algonquin College
- Centennial College
- Durham College
- Fanshawe College
- George Brown College
- Georgian College
- Humber College
- Lambton College
- The Michener Institute of Education at UHN
- Niagara College
- Niagara Parks School of Horticulture
- Ridgetown Campus, University of Guelph
- Seneca Polytechnic
- Sheridan College

If you know which institution you want to apply to:

- Go to the [Apply Now](https://www.ontariocolleges.ca/en/apply-now/apply-now-international) page and select the corresponding **Apply/Log In** button.

## Fees and Financial Considerations

International student fees are approximately $14,000 in Canadian funds per year (two semesters). Post-secondary institutions may also charge additional fees.

You are not insured for medical, hospital or dental care by the Canadian government. However, most of the institutions have a health plan available for international students. For details, contact the International Office of the institution you are planning to attend.

You cannot receive financial assistance from the Canadian government. As part of the immigration requirements, you need to prove that you have enough money to fully support yourself and your dependents during your stay in Canada.

Once enrolled at an Ontario post-secondary institution, international students usually qualify for the same awards and scholarships as other students.
